Donate a Domain

Donating a domain, that you’re no longer using*, to ministrypool is a great way that the domain pool can grow. Others can benefit from using the name, for their publicity/marketing, and you know that the domain will be kept ’safe’ and won’t be used by any ‘web nasties’ if it is allowed to expire.

Donating a domain to the pool is a simple process:

  1. Contact me expressing your wish to donate a domain
  2. We’ll get back to you and discuss about how we can take things further.
  3. When we’re both ready, ministrypool will initiate the transfer process. How a transfer works…

An email will be sent to the ‘Admin Contact’ for the domain. If you’re not sure what address that is, you can either check it on a whois search or with your domain registrar. Sometimes we also might need an ‘Authorisation’ or ‘EPP’ Code (again your registrar should be able to tell you about this). The admin contact for the domain will have 96 hours to respond to the email and follow the instructions within it. Once this has happened, depending on the registrar, the transfer will take between 24 hours and a week to happen.

  4. When the transfer has been completed, ministrypool will take control of the domain and it can be added to the domain pool. You’ll then get a nice thank you email!

It costs about $20 (£10) for the domain to be transferred on our side. There isn’t a charge by ministrypool for the transfer process, but any donation would be very gratefully received! (A suggested donation would be $10.)

If you haven’t got a domain to donate but would like to help ministrypool, you can donate to ministrypool securely using paypal. Any donations will help the pool to grow and also maintain the existing domains in the pool. Ministrypool is NOT a Charity, so donations are NOT tax deductible!

When a domain is transferred into the company we use for registering/administering domains (123-reg based in the UK), they add on an extra years registration. So we can guarantee that the domain will be in the pool for at least a year after it is transferred!

* The domain must still be valid. Domains that have expired (not been renewed) or have been deleted cannot be transferred!
